International Women’s Day: The Female Artist of the Year Karen Poole
International Women’s Day, also called International Working Women’s Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions, the focus of the celebrations ranges from a general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political, and social achievements. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love and respect for women celebrating equality, in other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. This is a day which some people celebrate by wearing purple ribbons.
BonaFideStudio traditionally celebrates it by giving The Female Artist of the Year Tribute and this 2015 we chose Karen Poole.
From one half of Brit and Ivor Novello nominated platinum-selling pop duo Alisha’s Attic, to one of the UK’s most versatile and prolific songwriters. Karen has had over 25 Top 10 hits and worked with artists including Kylie Minogue, Will Young, Sugababes, Annie Lennox, David Guetta, Lily Allen and many others.
We are all familiar with her successful career but what the general public does not know is Karen’s involvement in her community. Despite being a busy mum with a busy career she always finds time for small community projects in Muswell Hill. She dedicates her time and knowledge without asking anything in return. That is why she deserves to be our Female Artist of the Year 2015!
